Non‑destructive testing (NDT) is a set of methods used today to characterize the integrity and condition of structures or materials, without damage, either during production, use or maintenance, unlike destructive testing. 

These techniques enable the detection of internal and external defects, cracks, inclusions, discontinuities or other anomalies that could affect the safety, performance or longevity of the objects tested. The choice of method depends on the type of material, the location examined, the type of defect sought and the specific requirements of the inspection.
